Adorned Nails: Military Camouflage

I know. It's nothing new. It's been done before.

But I just wanted to try my hand at doing camouflage nails as it's something out of the ordinary for me. This is actually my second attempt at it. In my first attempt, my consultant - the hubby - didn't think it looked right. The design looked "too busy", said he.

This second attempt turned out...okay. It could be better but I'm happy enough with it. Just take a few steps back, squint, and it will look military enough!

That's black grass, by the way. Well, it's really just a plant with very dark purple leaves that look almost black. We have a fairly big patch of this plant in the garden, so I thought, "Why not?"

These are the products that I used (L-R): KOH Rain Forest, Etos Longlasting Nailpolish 005, Arcancil Stylish Brown, Arcancil Arrogant Black and KOH Matt top coat.

And yes, of course I did both hands!

  1. Excellent. I absolutely adore this manicure. That's what I call something sexy and creative. (I have a camouflage piece of fabric here at home - the true one of the army - I can't remember why and where I bought this!). I love this design. I'll steal you the idea one of those days! But before I'll have to franken khaki green army creme cause I don't have any.

    (PS. my little blue holo's got 3 days of wear and barely no tipwear and I'm not tired of it yet. Me who doesn't like blue! It's so incredible under the sun- what an awesome little polish, my dear! Million thank you's again =])

  2. Girl, this is just wonderful, I love it! It has probably been done before, but I've never seen those. I think it really looks like camouflage and it looks like no one should try to mess with you! Have you seen the movie G.I Jane with Demi Moore ( terrible movie btw )... your nails make me think of that movie.

    Thanks, I'm glad you approve of this look! Yes, I do remember that movie. Memorable, but only because it was such a bad movie! :D

    @jellynat
    Heh heh, thank you! I'd certainly love to see you do a camouflage look! I have quite a lot of stuff at home with camouflage prints. I had first thought of clutching one of them for the photos (it would have been the obvious choice!) but then, I looked out the window and suddenly thought of grabbing the black grass instead! :P

    Wow, that little blue holo is sure a tough cookie! I'm very happy that you're enjoying it so much. You're most welcome, my dear! :)

    @Shop N' Chomp
    Thanks. You know what? I actually think the grass (being black) is cooler than the mani. :D

    Thank you, Dina. I was going for a rugged look, but all right, if you think it's pretty, I'll take it all the same. ;D

    @Golden
    Thanks! On a scale of 1 to 10 for difficulty, I would put this at 7. It wasn't easy for a non-professional like me and it was quite time-consuming, but, really, anyone can try it. :)

    @p chan
    That's an excellent idea for National Service too! Fashionable cadets marching with nails matching their uniforms...how cool! :D

    @Danielle
    Thanks, Danielle. I'm very glad these camouflage nails are to your liking. Yay! :D

    @AnneYJia

    It's great that you like this mani. It did take me a while to get this done, so I certainly wouldn't recommend it if you have time constraints. :)

    @Lavender
    Thanks! :)

    Thanks, Cynthia. Ha ha, no, I'm actually right-handed (I wish I was ambidextrous!) but ironically, I thought I did a better job with the design on my right-hand nails! :P

  16. I don't wear nail polish but I love looking and admiring those beautiful nail art. And this is really cool. You really 'interpreted' the Camouflage theme very well.

    I will show my little girl your nail arts. She loves to paint her nails (limited to toe nails, but her grandma always spoils her by doing her fingers too) and now learning to use the term 'nail art' too. ;)

    Ha ha, thanks so much for your encouraging words! I normally prefer simple and safe nail looks, but I try to push my boundaries once in a while. :)

    @Vonvon
    Thank you! Your little girl has already started painting her nails?! How cute! I wonder what her piano teacher says about that. ;D Very soon, she will be a nail art-ist too! Heh heh!

  23. She always gets away with everything. Her piano teacher would use her painted nails to her(the teacher) own advantage....as praising her painted nails would get my girl to play more pieces on the piano and organ. (Kids, their attention span can be just so much) ;)

    Will post up some of her nails one of these days. :)

  27. WOW! Way to experiment Witoxicity!! It's been done before but I haven't seen on in any of the posts I've read! Very out of the ordinary and you did a great job. Heck you even got your hubby to analyze it first.. you've got the skills and the source to back it up, now that's dedication.
