Adorned Nails: KOH Brilliant Red



KOH Brilliant Red is a bright, perky, tomato red. When I first saw it, it kind of reminded me of KOH Love Passionately from the recent KOH Balance collection.

So, out came three bottles for a side-by-side comparison: KOH Red, KOH Brilliant Red and KOH Love Passionately. I figured I might as well include KOH Red as this polish will be featured here soon as well.


Top to bottom:

KOH Red - a classic, no nonsense red, darker than the other two
KOH Brilliant Red - an upbeat red, leaning towards an orangey red
KOH Love Passionately - a coral red, lighter and more pink than Brilliant Red

Application was absolutely trouble-free as Brilliant Red is a jelly. I love the super glossy finish! I applied two coats but you might want to do more (or use an opaque base polish) if visible nail lines bother you.


KOH Brilliant Red is not a new release. As mentioned before, KOH has included three of its red polishes from its permanent range, including Brilliant Red, in its Holiday Spirits collection.

The three that are new in the Holiday Spirits collection are:

KOH Romantic Silver
KOH Loving Bronze
KOH Dreamy Gold

    Als je de flesjes zo bij elkaar ziet, dan zie je pas echt hoe verschillend de kleuren zijn. Love passionately lijkt ineens helemaal niet zo rood in de fles. Op de nagels zijn ze allemaal mooi. Groetjes

    Dat was precies mijn gedachte, Nikki! Love Passionately lijkt wel meer roze in de fles vergeleken met Brilliant Red. Dat is niet zo makkelijk te zien als je de fles niet bij de andere flesjes houdt. Groejtes! :)

    For a moment I thought that I had already seen this post and almost skipped it. The two colors are so close. Hard to even tell them apart in the bottle shots :)

    Haha, it's hard to tell the difference if you looked at the bottles separately. Once put side-by-side, you can see that one looks rather pink . :)
