Adorned Nails: Douglas Fireworks

Douglas Fireworks 15. Could this be a dupe for Chanel Peridot?

The German parfumerie chain, Douglas, launched its own collection of nail polishes recently, calling the range Douglas Absolute Nails. I believe Douglas launched these much earlier in its home country, as ladies in Germany would have spotted.

I came across the collection in one of the Douglas stores here in the Netherlands just last week. The sales assistant mentioned that they were new arrivals, just after the New Year. The main collection consists of twelve polishes and several seem to mirror some of Chanel's range of nail polishes. There were another three polishes on display, separate from the main display, and I wonder if these three may be limited editions. This Douglas Fireworks was one of the three.

Douglas Fireworks is an antique gold / green duochrome, with the antique gold a lot more prominent than the green. You'll see also flashes of aqua in the bottle. I applied two coats here and as is expected of metallic polishes, the finish looks streaky.

The Douglas Absolute Nails polishes have a fairly broad brush (that's good!) and the bottles also come complete with double caps. Each retails for €4.95 (11ml) which is about one-quarter the price of Chanel's (13ml).

So, if you have access to a Douglas store, I'd suggest that you go check the range out soon. Real soon.

  1. Oh, that does look like it could be a dupe for Peridot, but I wonder if Ozotic 507 would be a closer dupe? 507 looks a bit greener like this Douglas polish does (but it's prettier than Peridot, imho). Thanks for the swatches!:)

  7. Beautiful photos and it looks great on your gorgeous nails, however the shade itself is too bling bling for me.

    I bet one can even spot your nails in the dark. ;)
    Take care, Nicole x

  9. Super! Ongelooflijk zeg, dezelfde kleur voor maar € 4,95 terwijl Chanel meer dan 20 euro kost. Je moet meer dan 15 euro betalen voor een naam. Belachelijk, wat een afzetters. :( Groetjes

    My pleasure, Lindsay! I guess the best way to find out would be to have all swatched side-by-side. For now, I'm quite happy with just this one. :)

    @Jossie
    Hi, Jossie! I suppose it does, to a certain extent. :)

    @Gen
    .....and better on the wallet too! :)

    @mylittlevanities
    It could be a very close dupe. :D

    @KTee
    Yay! I'm glad, KTee. If you have access to it, I'd say go get it (that is if you've always wanted something like Peridot). :)

    @rock-or-not
    I'm pleased you like it! :)

    @Crystal
    I hope you'll go check it out at Douglas, Crystal. :)

    @Nicole
    Thanks, Nicole. Yes, it's quite a look-at-me polish. Haha, like flashlights in the dark! Funny! :D

    @jazzqueen64
    Thank you, Wendy! :)

    @Nikki
    Zo is het eenmaal. :( Luxe merken zijn vaak onnodig duur, anders zijn ze niet exclusief genoeg. Ik weet niet of er verschil in kwaliteit is tussen deze twee lakken, maar je kan sowieso vier Douglas lakken kopen t.o.v. Chanel. Groetjes! :)

  12. This does look so much like Peridot, at first I thought that is what it was. Such a beautiful color regardless of who makes it :)
