ELLIS FAAS: Milky Lips L201 Review

Light application

Milky Lips L201 is one of the Ellis Red lip colours from ELLIS FAAS.

In case you're not familiar with this, Ellis Red is the name given to the brand's signature red - a no-nonsense blood red - which is available in three finishes: Creamy Lips L101 (thick, opaque), Milky Lips L201 (lighter in texture, translucent) and Glazed Lips L301 (similar to lipgloss).

This Milky Lips L201 is actually my first Ellis Red. I'll cut to the chase. I seriously love it and I have good reason for saying this. The pigmentation of this liquid lipcolour is fantastic and the sexy shade of red with a sheen is gorgeous but not overwhelming. As can be seen in the two lip photos in this post, the colour intensity is buildable.

If you're one who thinks that Creamy Lips L101 may be too much to handle, too ra ra red and in your face, then I think this Milky Lips L201 would be a good way to get acquainted with Ellis Red. You could alternatively try the glossier Glazed Lips L301.

There are other good points too (these basically apply across the board). The Milky Lips:

• is easy to apply - I've always applied it directly with the pen's brush applicator
• feels light on the lips
• is very, very moisturising - needs no lipbalm base, lips stay moisturised
• fades, shall I say, gracefully
• is paraben-free

Ingredients:
Hydrogenated Polydecene, Isododecane, Hydrogenated Styrene/Isoprene Copolymer, Dicalcium Phosphate, Hdi/Trimethylol Hexyllactone Crosspolymer, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Polyethylene, Propylene Carbonate, Octyldodecanol, Candelilla Cera, Prunus Domestica Seed Extract, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Silica, Tribehenin, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Sorbitan Isostearate, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-T-Butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide. +/- May Contain: Mica, CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), CI 77491/77492/77499 (Iron Oxides), CI 75470 (Carmine), Red 7, CI 15850 (Red 6/Red 7 Lake), CI 73360 (Red 30 Lake), CI 45410 (Red 28 Lake), CI 45380 (Red 22 Lake), CI 42090 (Blue 1 Lake), CI 19140 (Yellow 5 Lake), CI 15985 (Yellow 6 Lake)

Here is my full review of the Milky Lips (with the L203).

The Milky Lips retails for €25 / £22 / USD35 per piece.

For a better deal, ELLIS FAAS has come up with the Winter Set 2011 which includes the Milky Lips L201. ELLIS FAAS has provided me with this set and we'll take a look at it next.

Thank you, Nicole! Well, I'm not saying all this to make it all sound dandy. It's on the expensive side but it's a really great product in many ways. You have a lovely weekend too, my dear! :)

  10. Lovely VAMPY lips. "Blood Red" is gorgeous. Maybe you can match it with one of your Vampire's Love Polishes. I think it would be a nice match. "KTee"xx

Yup, it's a seriously gorgeous red with many benefits. Haha, you know, Essence had a lip stain in the Vampire's Love collection but unfortunately (or fortunately?!), it was sold out before I could get to it. That, I think, would have been a great match. :D

  12. L201 is one of my favorite EF products. Have you tried her Glazed Lips L303? It's so gorgeous! I accidentally let it behind at someone's house and will need to reorder it very soon.

No, I haven't got to that one yet! I'm taking it one number at a time. ;D Yikes, how unfortunate that your pen 'walked away'! Yes, yes, it sure is time to get a replacement, my dear. :)
