Teeez: Glitter Gossip Lash & Liner Review

The Teeez Glitter Gossip Lash & Liners are a real feast for the eyes. I'm tempted to simply shut up and leave you to take in the visuals of these fancy glittery thingies. And as with all things glittery, we seriously need huge close-up shots.

But of course, I will tell you more.

First, here's what Teeez says (excerpts):

........applies a high concentration of micro glitter particles in one stroke, for an immediate shimmer sensation. The unique packaging combines glitter eyeliner and glitter mascara in one single product........The innovative two-in-one packaging has a unique silicon eyeliner brush with a conical shape that applies a sharp line, the brush with micro grooves applies the perfect amount of glitter on your lashes each time you use it. Quick drying and long lasting without losing glitters.

Ingredients:
Water, triethanolamine, glycerin, acrylates copolymer, propylene glycol, polyvinyl alcohol, carbomer, ethylparaben, methylparaben, propylparaben, phenoxyethanol, butylparaben, polyethylene terephthalate

The three Glitter Gossip Lash & Liner shades that Teeez kindly sent were:

L-R:
At the Park - predominantly neon green and yellow glitters
Take a Taxi - black glitters mixed with specks of green, blue, turqoise, yellow, orange
Ready to Party - silver glitters with specks of blue, pink/lilac


So basically, it's a two-in-one eye product that deposits colourful glitter on your eyelids and on your lashes, and it does it with this bizarre-looking applicator.

Hmm, these applicators remind me of two things: A. Alien tentacles. B. Cactus. I can't decide which one.

Whatever it is, it serves its purpose. The sharp, stiff tip works well enough to line the eyes. The spines bristles are also stiff and fairly sparse, which is fine by me. I really wouldn't want it depositing way too much glitter on my lashes.

The liquid product itself does take quite a while to dry, so in my case (i.e. inward-folding lids), I'd have to be very careful not to open my eyes until the lining is completely dry. I've had some messy mishaps where I opened my eyes too early and the still-wet liner transfered glitter to other parts of my lid. Yikes!

Also, this liner isn't waterproof. On one hand, it's easy to wash off but on the other hand, some glitter would transfer after some time. You'd have lower chances of that happening though if you didn't have my kind of eyelids.

Here are two eye looks using these Glitter Gossip Lash & Liners. For eyeshadows, I used the awesome Catrice Big City Life - The Berlin Collection palette.

In this second eye look, I lined the lashline first with the black Take a Taxi and extended it a bit, waited for it to dry and then drew a short line above it with the silver Ready to Party. As you can see in both looks, I went very, very easy with the glitters on the lashes.

Look: Riot Of Colour

Okay, the title does sound rather hilarious. It's neither the face nor the eye look that is a riot of colour. It's just the outfit, a borrowed title.

Still, the eye look is admittedly slightly more colourful than my usual.

For this look, I used:

Teeez: Magic Pigment Powder Review

These pigment powders were released by Teeez a couple of months back under the collection called Hypnoteeez. In my opinion, what really stands out about this whole collection is really the eye-catching tattoo-like design on the packaging.

The Hypnoteeez collection is made up of five types of makeup items: a range of eyeshadows (Silk Fantasy Eyeshadow), pigment powders (Magic Pigment Powder), eyeliners (Exotic Sparkle Eyeliner), lipglosses (So Soft Lipgloss) and a set of makeup brushes (also with the same attractive motif). From Hypnoteeez, Teeez (a Dutch brand) had kindly sent me two Silk Fantasy Eyeshadows (reviewed here) and these two Magic Pigment Powder housed in seriously cute mini pots.

Retail price: €5.29 for 2.5g, available in five colours.

The pots come with a sifter. Initally, it was baffling that the cover was loose and could not be twisted shut but really, all it takes is one last forceful twist and the cover will click shut securely.

According to Teeez
Use the Magic Pigment Powder for a subtle or intense color effect. This loose powder contains 2 unique color pigments, this creates a layered effect with a sparkle. Besides an intense eyeshadow, you can make subtle highlights or use one of the pink colors on your cheeks or cleavage to accentuate with a subtle sexy sparkle. Go crazy and blend the loose powder with each other or any other eye shadow and create your own favorite color with the Magic Pigment Powder.

Although I do have some pigments in my drawer, I can't say that I'm such a huge fan of pigments in general. I hate - truly hate with a capital H - eyeshadow fallout. Pigments are inherently fallout city and these Magic Pigment Powders are no exception.

Featured here are Smooth 02 (peachy beige) and Cool 09 (dark blue). Both have a frosty sheen and, of course, they need a good base to adhere to. Finely milled? I'd say they are pretty standard.

Teeez mentioned that each of these Magic Pigment Powders have two unique colour pigments. I had a hard time making that out for the peachy beige of Smooth 02. With my failing eyesight, it may be peachy beige plus white/silver.

Cool 09 on the other hand was easier to inspect: it has dark blue/silver with a sparse mix of aqua pigments. If you look carefully here, you just might be able to make out a few specks of aqua.

I did this eye look using Too Faced Shadow Insurance as a base. The result was an eye look with medium colour intensity. If a deeper colour intensity is required, you'll need a much stickier base.

It's a straightforward look as far as the pigments are concerned. For the eyelining, I lined first with the blue of GOSH Pretty Petrol and then went over it with the blue pigment powder mixed with Duraline to give it a more vivid blue liquid eyelining.

I did this look a while back and took an impromptu photo with my matching nails. That's KOH Blue Universe.

Teeez: Pink and Burgundy Eye Look

I wore this eye look the other day using the pink eyeshadow from Teeez. Since I haven't got deep-set eyes, I did my usual: darkened the outer edges, this time with burgundy and black eyeshadows from one of Sephora's old range of eyeshadow palettes.

It's a straightforward look:

Upper lid
• apply eyeshadow primer (not shown)
• pink on whole lid
• burgundy on the outer section
• just a bit of black on the outer corner
• a hint of white on the brow bone area.
• line with the purple liquid eyeliner
• tightline with black pencil eyeliner

Lower lid
• line inner one-third with the pink eyeshadow
• line outer two-thirds with the burgundy eyeshadow

As I was testing the Teeez eyeshadow at that time, I took a photo of the eye makeup about four and a half hours later. Little has changed with the pink eyeshadow. Creasing in the inner corner did start sometime after the five-hour mark.

My readers who do not live in the Netherlands probably know of Teeez only because of its awesome holographic nail polishes - Outta Control, Smooth and Cool.

Well, Dutch drugstore brand Teeez offers more than just nail polishes as they also have other items like eyeshadows, eyeliners and lipglosses in its range. A while back, I featured a hot pink liquid eyeliner that I bought together with the three holo polishes.

Frankly, Teeez has not been very well-known even here in the Netherlands. It isn't a new brand though. From what I've read, it's been around for a number of years but I think due to various reasons (eg: limited sales points and, some say, the so-so quality), it has not been as popular as some other drugstore brands.

Even my perception of the brand changed when I discovered their holographic nail polishes in the store. In some ways, this change in perception followed Teeez's own earlier image and product revamp. Now, its brand image seems to be one that's forward, cool and funky. Teeez also makes it a point to be dynamic by releasing a collection of four or five new products every three months. I've also noticed more effort on their part to reach out to Dutch bloggers.

Last month, Teeez sent me (and other Dutch beauty bloggers) some eye makeup products to review. They were mainly products from their new collection with a hip name, Hypnoteeez. Two of the items sent were these Silk Fantasy Eyeshadows - Smooth 11 (hot pink) and Free 09 (intense pigment green).

Packaging
They are plastic squares (4.5cm x 4.5cm). The casing feels light and cheap, and the only saving grace is the awesome colourful tattoo-like design on the cover.

They do come sealed (I mention this because not all budget/drugstore cosmetics here are sold sealed).

Eyeshadows
Swatches
Applied, Smooth 11 is a frosty hot pink and Free 09 a frosty almost-neon mint green.

Scent
They have a typical makeup scent, not noticeable during application. If anything, I actually think they smell like some mascaras.

Texture and Finish
Teeez got it right: the eyeshadows are silky but firm to the touch, almost like rubbing your finger on slippery styrofoam (I mean that in a good way). It is lightweight and has a frosty finish.

Pigmentation
Good pigmentation but needs an eyeshadow primer to bring the colours to life.

Application
Smooth application, allows for easy layering to build intensity. For these eyeshadows, I like using a sponge-tip applicator or my finger to apply.

With an eyeshadow primer, creasing was minimal except for the inner corner of my eyes (my usual problem area) some five-six hours later.

Overall
The quality and the colour payoff of these eyeshadows are pretty good for the low mid-range price of €4.79 but you would need to like frost finish to like these.

Teeez: Hot Pink Eye Look

After that electric blue eyeliner look I tried with NOUBA a couple of weeks back, I thought I'd go bright, pink and metallic this time. As is usual of me, it's nothing complicated.

I used:
L-R

It's really as easy as just applying the bright pink liquid eyeliner quite thickly, precisely in the eyelid fold area (in my case). Wing it. Then tightline with the black gel eyeliner. Curl lashes and apply mascara.

An eyeshadow-less eye look. I did say it was easy (and lazy)!

The bright pink liquid eyeliner from Teeez is my new acquisition from the drugstore. I'll probably do a review on it in due course.
