Rituals: Eyeshadows

Meet Jade Delight and Jade Jewel. A pale chartreuse and a khaki green.

I acquired these Rituals Cosmetics single eye shadows at different times, which on hindsight, was not very smart of me. If I had known earlier that I was going to get both these colours, I would have gotten better value for money by purchasing the Duo Eye Shadow called Double Jade instead. Double Jade has the same two shades!

The Product
Colours: Single – 16 shades; Duo – 8 combinations
Net weight and Price: Single – 2.4g at €12.90; Duo – 4g at €16.90

According to Rituals (excerpts)
• Natural gemstone powders allow the skin to breathe while leaving the skin feeling sensationally soft
• The ancient gemstone Sapphire strengthens the “third eye”, thereby deepening intuition and insight, while having a beautiful brightening effect
• Mild formula: natural gemstones – pure minerals – perfume-free – paraben-free – dermatologically tested

The eyeshadows are housed in sturdy square black compacts. Each comes complete with a decent sponge-tip applicator and a mirror. The compact shuts with a magnet, a pretty strong magnet, in fact.

These are powder eyeshadows with bits of shimmer. They crumble only slightly. They apply well and I’ve experienced minimal fallout. As usual, an eyeshadow primer helps a great deal to intensify the colours. In this eye look, I used Too Faced Shadow Insurance.

Left: Jade Delight; Right: Jade Jewel

Bottom row swatches: With Too Faced Shadow Insurance

I really, really love this colour combination. Jade Delight, the pale chartreuse, looks goldish on the skin. Jade Jewel is something between khaki green and khaki brown. On the skin, the shade reminds me of antique brass. I had the perfect eyeliner shade to complement these two colours and that was Velvet Touch Eye Liner from GOSH in the shade Metallic Brass. I completed this look with GOSH Wonder Volume Mascara.

Rituals calls this gemstone makeup as these eyeshadows contain sapphire powder, amongst others (have a good look at the ingredients list above). Again, I refrain from saying anything further about that. Let's just enjoy the eyeshadows as they are.

@London's-beauty
Thank you, my dear. I'll put your suggestion into consideration. No promises though. :)

@alvira
Yes, the look is neutral and yet, it has a certain edge, probably due to the antique brass colour. :)

@raey
Thanks, raey! I'm glad you love this. :)

@Shop N' Chomp
Sapphire strengthens the 'third eye', they say. I haven't noticed any difference yet. :P

@Madiha
Thanks, Madiha! :)

@albastrikmik
I'm pleased these shades are to your liking. :)

@kylie
I guess this day look can also be turned into an evening look by making it more smokey. Thanks for participating in the giveaway! Your comment entries are automatically taken into account. Good luck! :)

@lavender
My pleasure! Well, I myself had never heard of modern-day gemstone makeup until I came across Rituals' makeup line a year and a half ago. :)

@Colleen
Thanks, Colleen! :)

@Mz. More
Thank you! An FOTD? I'll have to think about it. As you know, I'm not much of an FOTD person. ;)

@With Love, Elle
Thanks for dropping by, Elle. I'm pleased that you like such shades too. :)

Rituals is the best store ever. I'm a big fan and have almost everything of this brand: lipgloss, eyeshadow, multiple bodycremes, almost every showerfoam, candles... you can call me the Rituals-junkie

These Jade shades look good on their own or together. :D

@PolishSis
Thank you, my dear! Oh, a Rituals fan! That's a side of PolishSis I never knew. I love Rituals too, but I can't say that I've tried as many products as you have. I often walk into a Rituals store just to browse and smell its products. All their lotions smell sooo good! :D

@Janinay
That's true! :)

I have used Rituals Bodycare before and it was lovely. Didn't know they did such nice shadows too. I like such neutral shadows too.

@Get Gawjus!
Rituals does have an entire makeup range. I'm sure they have that too in their stores in UK. :)

do you think this suit a specific skin tone? hope not coz im not sure what mine is.. lol..

Witoxicity said...

@snow0016
To be honest, I'm not terribly fussed about eyeshadow colours in relation to skin tones. Fyi, my skin leans more towards yellow tone. :)

I wish I could wear goldish shadows, but somehow, I can´t make them work.

Gorgeous look!

Witoxicity said...

@Xeno
Thanks, Xeno! Perhaps gold-ish shades would work for you if you paired that with brassy/khaki brown colours like the look shown here. You never know! :)
