Catrice: Hidden World Eyeshadow Soufflé Review

Hidden World is the latest 'Limited Edition' collection by Catrice. It isn't a very colourful collection, plainly staying within the white, off-white, champagne, pink and brown colour range. I think it's an elegant collection, nevertheless.

As if I haven't got enough eyeshadows already, I swooped up all three of the Hidden World Eyeshadow Soufflés last week:

Wood You Follow Me? - brown with subtle shimmer
Yes, I Wood! - champagne with shimmer
Rosy&Cosy - pink with gold shimmer

Wood You Follow Me?

Yes, I Wood!

Rosy&Cosy

Each retails for €3.49 (0.17oz / 4.9g). For that budget-friendly price, I feel absolutely no buyer's remorse. No need to.

Ingredients:
Cyclopentasiloxane, Isododecane, Mica, Phenyl Trimethicone, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, Hexyl Laurate, C30-45 Alkyl Dimethicone, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Stearyl Dimethicone, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Propylene Carbonate, Tin Oxide, Propylparaben
May contain: CI 42090 (Blue 1 Lake), CI 75470 (Carmine), CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499 (Iron Oxides), CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide)

Texture
Catrice calls these light, airy and soft. True, true and true. I really couldn't describe them any other way. Dip your finger in the soufflé and it dents immediately.

Application
I've tried applying the soufflés with my fingers and with a sponge-tip applicator. Both work but I have a preference for fingertips. I find it easier to fade out the edges.

Durability
Not bad at all! The durability of these eyeshadow soufflés does remind me somewhat of the Made To Stay Longlasting Eyeshadow. The soufflés

• (once dried) do not smudge easily - when rubbed on, the shimmer particles get displaced but the colour stays.
• are water-resistant, but not fully waterproof.
• are fairly crease-resistant.

Here's an eye look done with all three shades. The products that I used were:

Catrice Hidden World Eyeshadow Soufflé - Wood You Follow Me?
Catrice Hidden World Eyeshadow Soufflé - Yes, I Wood!
Catrice Hidden World Eyeshadow Soufflé - Rosy&Cosy
Majolica Majorca Perfect Automatic Liner - RD605 Red Garnet
GOSH Velvet Touch Eye Liner - Black Ink
Make Up For Ever Aqua Smoky Lash Mascara - Waterproof Extra Black

The look:

• champagne on the inner corner, pink on main part of lid and brown on the outer corner and crease
• brown smudged on lower lash line, champagne on inner half
• line upper lash line with the Majolica Majorca liquid eyeliner
• tightline with Black Ink
• two coats of mascara

I like cream shadows because they look very natural. I like the colors on you.

I like brown soufle Wood You Follow Me? and I tried it in store but I thought it was very sheer and I didn't take it, well now I regret it :(

Gorgeous look and perfect blending. Buy three of these cuties and one can create several looks for a reasonable price. Out of curiosity I would want to dip my finger in this texture. Take care, Nicole x

@나니
And so is the name. :)

@Girlie Blogger
Thanks! :)

@KTee
Thank you, KTee! You know, for someone who's not that into pinks, I have to say that I'm quite taken by Rosy&Cosy. I like how the gold shimmers have given it some oomph. :)

@rock-or-not
Me too! Thanks, rock-or-not! :)

@MissDoll
I didn't think it was that bad. It does sheer out very easily but it's fine if you dabbed it on (instead of spreading it out) and let it dry. :)

@Nicole
True. I would usually get only one eyeshadow from such special collections (sometimes none) but I was less disciplined this time around (oops!). Anyway, that's all right. I like all three and they didn't cost like €30 a piece. Haha, hmmm, the texture is definitely a lot softer than normal cream eyeshadows. It's quite like what the name suggests: soufflé. :)

When I saw it I was in a rush and another woman was pushing me with her elbows and my sister was calling me...
so I just stuck my fingers in and spread it over my hand and probably I rub it to hard because it was just a hint of color, but when I saw your swatches I can see that those babies are enough pigmented. I'm a little sad because I really liked the design but I'm sure I will find similar color in their range one day ;)

Ah, no need to fret, my dear. I'm sure there will be more such eyeshadows to come from the overworked Essence/Catrice limited editions factory. :D
