For those of you who don’t know my makeup history, I must confess that I’m very un-adventurous when it comes to face products. I steered clear of foundations and blushes for the longest time after a couple of disastrous encounters (read: breakouts). Not nice.
That was until I discovered Jane Iredale Cosmetics and my makeup world opened up. Now, I know there are many mineral makeup brands out there but for me, it’s gotta be Jane Iredale.
So, ladies, meet the one and only blusher kit that I use and own. Really, it is. I never bother with non-Jane Iredale blushers, even those that happen to come in makeup kits.
About Thee
The Jane Iredale Cheek Colour Kit 1 is a dual-shade blush compact. There used to be two such compacts in the range, but I believe this Cheek Colour Kit 1 is the only one available now. As with all Jane Iredale compacts, they are gold. Inside is a mirror and a foldable blush brush. It retails for USD46 and you get 2.8g / 0.1oz for each shade.
The two PurePressed blusher shades in this Cheek Colour Kit are called Ginger (top) and Whisper (bottom). Ginger is a matte dark pink, Whisper is peach pink with bits of shimmer.
Jane Iredale also offers single blushers in its range with five shades recommended for cool skin tones and eight for warm skin tones. These single ones retail for USD26 each for 0.1oz. Whisper is also available as a single blusher under the warm category. Ginger is available only in this Cheek Colour Kit.

L: Whisper; R: Ginger
Here’s the list of ingredients:
Mica, Boron Nitride, Dimethicone, Pine Bark Extract, Pomegranate Extract. May Contain: Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides, Carmine, Manganese Violet, Ultramarines, 24-Karat Gold Leaf.
How I Use Thee
I very simply use my angled blush brush to pick up some colour, sometimes one colour and sometimes a mixture of both shades and apply it to my cheeks. I’ve tried using the what seems to be the darker shade, Ginger, to contour and Whisper, the lighter one, to highlight. I couldn’t tell the difference on the cheeks, so I abandoned that method. Rather than having me explain further (as if you ladies need enlightenment!), here’s what Jane Iredale says:
• To narrow a face, bring the color into the middle of the face, but no farther forward than the middle of the iris.
• Two colors create a subtle, sophisticated look.
• To widen a face, keep blush towards the outside of the face.
Why I Love Thee
This is what I always say when I write about Jane Iredale products: no evils. That means no talc, no bismuth oxychloride, no parabens. No clogged pores. No breakouts! Need I say more? Well.....yes. I’ve read somewhere that Whisper is quite like that certain infamous NARS blusher that begins with an ‘O’. I can’t say if it’s true, as I’ve never tried the latter before but I just thought it was an interesting piece of hearsay.
The blush takes a while to warm up on the skin and once it does, there’ll be a lovely natural glow on the cheeks. The slightly shimmery Whisper is just that. The shimmer is subtle.
Why I May Not Love Thee
It’s not such a big issue, but I find that Whisper crumbles easily in the compact. Please refer to the images above.
Final Words To Thee
You'd be interested to know that I used this blusher kit for my wedding day! That says it all, doesn't it?
I leave you now with this zoomed-in picture of my cheek with Ginger and Whisper mixed together. This image was taken outdoors, in the shade on a hot sunny afternoon. The other products used were (a lot of) concealer and a pressed foundation. From Jane Iredale, of course!
More information can be found on the Jane Iredale website and my other posts on this brand, including my Letter to Jane Iredale.

Yi xx
I don't really like blushers too. I have only one, because I won it (a bloggger's giveaway :). It's nice but I'm always afraid to put too much of it and end up looking like a clown in outdoors lights :p
I haven't had a chance to try jane Iredale. I think if you know one brand works for you, that's great! Less shopping around =)
I've tried JI pressed powder but haven't yet tried their blusher. This color looks absolutely lovely on you! No wonder you used it on your wedding day. =D You have beautiful skin btw.
The blush looks pretty on you! :)
The colors are so pretty! Looks like you found the perfect product - yay!
That blush looks super pretty on you! It's normal that you don't want to use another one. I do the same, when something fits me, I go for it over and over again!! xx
Thanks for the review. You have lovely skin!
Don't see this brand in malaysia. too bad
I can see why you love the blush. it looks so gorgeous on you! and you have such a beautiful skin too :)

@London's-beauty
Thanks. Whisper is certainly a very natural shade for the cheek. I got mine through a friend in the States. On the Jane Iredale website, you can find out where you can buy its products in various countries.
@Yi
Hi there! I think it's great that you have the sample kit. I had wanted to get one of those when I first found out about Jane Iredale, but I couldn't get my hands on one. I have the concealer and I do quite agree with what you said about its application. And yes, I've got the Liquid Minerals Foundation. If time permits, I will write a post on it. :)
@Carine
I know what you mean and with mineral blushers, it's wiser to under-apply. The shade will 'bloom' after it warms up on the skin.
@Babybubblz
Oh, I totally agree with you! :)
@Shop N' Chomp
Thank you, my dear. Beautiful skin? Really, it was the concealer, the foundation and the flattering outdoor lighting that created the illusion. :)
@CHARRY
Thanks!
@tris1978ton
Yes, I think I've found the perfect blusher kit. I don't think I'll be looking elsewhere for quite a while. :)
@Naoko
I totally know what you mean. Why rock the boat, right? :)
@Lavender
@Dina
@Cynthia
My pleasure and thanks! As mentioned to Shop N' Chomp, it was really the concealer, the foundation and good lighting that gave the illusion of good skin. I do have a history of acne, you know. :D

Wow you are lovely girl ^_^ Flawless flawless ^_^.
Thanks for this wonderful review. We have a Jane Iredale shop here, I'll visit them sometime. ^_^
Hey! Liked your blog.You do your nails pretty well! New follower
@twinsouls888
Thanks, Ems, but I must tell you that my skin is far from flawless! I hope you'll give Jane Iredale products a try one day. You'll love them! :)
@Yuvna
It's lovely of you to drop by! I'm pleased that you like the nail posts. :)
I agree with Dina - you do have beautiful flawless skin... Sigh.... Everytime I read more about Jane Iredale, I think I should save and buy some. Note to self: When your Estee Lauder pallet runs out!! *in gruff tone*
It's so pretty! ^^ I think it looks like purple to me, hehe.. :) But i love how the color turned out in your cheeks! Cute! ^_^
@Danielle
Ah, you see, it really is the Jane Iredale products doing a great job of concealing all the faults!
Well, you better layer on what you've still got in your Estee Lauder - thickly! ;) The sooner you finish that, the sooner you can justify getting yourself some Jane Iredale products. :D
@Ceecile
Ha ha, I assure you it's not purple, just pink, on the darker side perhaps. :D
The compact looks so beautiful in gold and the shades get a big thumbs up from me too!
Oh wow you have got lovely flawless skin and nice cheeks & this blusher has added a beautiful tinge & glow to your cheeks
It was nice to know that you used this blusher kit for your wedding day and it does says it all hun! xoxo
@The Beautifier
I give all those Jane Iredale face products I was using total credit for creating the illusion of flawless skin. As for the blusher, this really is the only blusher kit I need. There hasn't been any need to shop around for a blusher anymore! :)
Oh it looks absolutely wonderful on your cheeks! And may I say what wonderful clear skin you have?!
@Natalie
Thank you, Natalie. I do love the colour it gives to my cheeks. :)
