Catrice: Made to Stay Long Lasting Eyeshadow Review

These Catrice eyeshadows retail for €3.49 per piece (5.0g / 0.17oz) and have a name with a big promise. Huge expectations with a name like Made To Stay Long Lasting Eye Shadow.

According To Catrice
Six eye shadows with a high pigmentation for the ultimate metallic shine effect! The soft cream texture is easy to apply and lasts for an extremely long time – without settling in the crease of your eyelid or smudging!

Ingredients
Cyclopentasiloxane, Isododecane, Mica, Polyethylene, Polybutene, Phenyl Trimethicone, Cera Microcristallina, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Calcium Sodium Borosilicate, Silica, Caprylyl Glycol, Panthenyl Ethyl Ether, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Propylene Carbonate, Bisabolol, Tin Oxide, Ascorbyl Palmitate, May contain: CI 75470 (carmin), CI 77000 (aluminium powder), CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499 (Iron Oxides), CI 77510 (Ferric Ferrocyanide), CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide)

I have here two shades:

050 Metall Of Honor

040 Lord Of The Blings

Metall Of Honor is a metallic khaki brown, like brass.
Lord Of The Blings is a metallic beige or, as some of you might prefer, warm silver.

These two eyeshadows (plus a third one: Jennifer's Goldrush) were initially released under the so-called Limited Edition Modern Muse Collection. Of course, some weeks after that, we all discovered these Modern Muse products slotted amongst the permanent range items. They were not limited edition. I was, to say the least, annoyed with this misrepresentation and I had griped about it in my post on Catrice Khaki Perry.

By the way, the eye look shown in this post was done with the following products:

Catrice Made to Stay Long Lasting Eyeshadow - Lord Of The Blings
Catrice Made to Stay Long Lasting Eyeshadow - Metall Of Honor
(both applied with a flat brush)
GOSH Velvet Touch Eye Liner Metallic Brass
GOSH Velvet Touch Eye Liner Black Ink
Josie Maran GOGO Instant Natural Volume Argan Mascara

My Thoughts
Texture
These are cream eyeshadows - thick and fairly smooth. It can be clumpy if you extract too much at one go.

Application
Drying time wasn't too fast, thus allowing enough time to toggle with the eyeshadows before they dry.

Durability
Okay, the big question: Is it longlasting?

I kept my expectations real. Er, have you seen my inward-folding eyelids?! Most cream eyeshadows don't stand a chance. It would be crease-ville within an hour.

The thing is, these Catrice eyeshadows managed to exceed my expectations:

They
• stayed put
• did not smudge
• is water-resistant, but not waterproof
• did not crease in the first four to five hours.

Put simply, this was how the eyeshadows looked after seven hours:

Yes, if you look closely, there is some creasing in the inner corner of the eye in this photo. I'm all right with that, considering that it is, after all, seven hours later. These eyeshadows didn't cost an arm and a leg, so of course, I can live with that!

I love Catrice Made to Stay eyeshadows. I own shades 040 Lord of the Blings, 050 Metall of Honour, 060 Jennifer's Goldrush (beautiful old gold).

If you like Catrice cream eyeshadows try also Essence Stay All Day longlasting eyeshadows if you can get your hands on them. These are exactly the same (it's the same company) but cheaper. I have all six shades and honestly there's no difference in quality.

@The Girlie Blog
Its quality is pretty good for the price. :)

Haha, I don't often use cream eyeshadows either, but it's mainly because they crease so easily. Sometimes, I use my fingers and sometimes (like in this post), I use a flat brush to apply. :)

@Atqa Beauty
Hi, Atqa! Thanks so much for the recommendations! I'm not at all surprised that the Essence eyeshadows that you mentioned are exactly the same as these Catrice ones. You're right, it's the same company - Cosnova - behind these two brands. They just needed to change the packaging and the pricing and voila! A 'different' product! I'll have to check out the other shades. :)

The guys from Catrice are using funny names for their products. I think it's a lovely eye look. The swatches on your arm look mighty impressive and the colors are beautiful.

I don't have any experience with cream eyeshadows, but it looks easy to work with (no fallout right?)

@KTee
Thanks, KTee. It's an easy eye look. Yeah, they've got a very cool naming convention, those folks at Catrice. Heh heh, I assure you, you won't be having any issues with fallout here. :D

@Cynthia
Thanks! Yeah, I love the funky names too! Lord Of The Blings is just a metallic beige. The really gold one was Jennifer's Goldrush, which I didn't get. :)

I think the jars and the colors look quite stylish and the quality seems to be good too for only a few euros. I am impressed. Take care, Nicole x

@Nicole
Well, I think it's a good buy, these eyeshadows. And yes, the packaging looks pretty good for the price. Well done, Catrice! :D

Gorgeous. I wish we had Catrice here in Australia.

@Jen W
Thanks, Jen. I believe Catrice's sister brand, Essence, has a retail presence in Australia. I've been told (please see comment above) that the Essence Stay All Day eyeshadow is the same as this one from Catrice. It's made by the same company. :)

I'm so glad you did this review. I've seen these in the store but never bought them as I thought they would crease like crazy. They look very pretty on you.

@PolishSis
Thank you, Inge! These eyeshadows exceeded my expectations. You should give these a try. Metall of Honor, in my opinion, is a gorgeous shade. :)
