ELLIS FAAS: Winter Set 2011 - A Closer Look

ELLIS FAAS seems to love putting together different pen combinations, packaging them into sets of three for each season and offering them at a lower price than what you'd normally pay for the individual pens. It's definitely a good deal for current users looking to replace their used-up pens. I'd recommend it too to those who are just starting out with ELLIS FAAS BUT you'd have to like the combination(s) presented.

This time around, the ELLIS FAAS Winter Set 2011 consists of the following:

L-R:
Milky Eyes E209
Creamy Eyes E103
Milky Lips L201
This set was kindly provided by ELLIS FAAS.

Milky Eyes E209

E209 is a light skin-coloured eyeshadow with yellow/golden tones and very, very subtle shimmer (it's not noticeable in the photos here). Applied on my eyes, the Milky Eyes E209 almost disappears from sight. The shade is very close to my skin tone but fortunately, you can still see the swatch on my arm.

L-R: E209, E103, L201

Creamy Eyes E103
E103 is a matte black eyeshadow. ELLIS FAAS says to use it to create an easy smoky eye and/or to be used as a black liner. I've mentioned this before, but I think it's worth saying it again. For eyelining, while I do use the ELLIS FAAS Eyeliner E501, I actually prefer using the E103 to the Eyeliner. That's mainly because the E103 eyeshadow is cast-iron lasting (smudge-proof, waterproof) while the E501 eyeliner is not waterproof.

Milky Lips L201

It's a lightweight blood-red liquid lip colour. Full details can be found in my feature on the Milky Lips L201.

ELLIS FAAS: Eye Look XV

I did a simple eye look with these two eyeshadows. I've use the E209 on the inner half of my eyes and the E103 on the outer half for a smokey look. I used my fingers to apply and fade out these two eyeshadows. With an angled eyeliner brush, I lined the eyes with the black E103. The look is completed with two coats of the black ELLIS FAAS Mascara E401.

The Winter Set 2011 retails for €60 / £55 / USD85. That's a savings of €17 / £13 / USD22 compared to the total price of the individual pens.

Haha, I thought the E103 was a very darkened green at first from the second picture ^x^;\.
Man, Ellis Faas does sleek-looking packaging and it makes me want to buy them :x.

@Adis
Nope, it's black. Well, if you do buy some of these ELLIS FAAS products, don't get them only because they look bullet-sleek. There is seriously good stuff inside, especially the lip colours and the eyeshadows. :D

@Ms Bubu
ELLIS FAAS is a Dutch brand that's been around for about three years now. You might want to read my introductory post on this brand and to learn more about Ellis Faas, the makeup artist. In London, you can find her products in Liberty and Space NK. :)

@BlackCherry
Thank you very much, BlackCherry! It's a simple, neutral, smokey eye look. I'm glad it's to your taste. :)

You're right, it's a perfect deal if one likes the combination in the sets.

I love your eye look and how you use E103 as a liner. I have read it b4 in 1 of your posts, but I still think it's a great tip. :)

@KTee
Thanks, KTee! The ELLIS FAAS range has so many different products and finishes, so I can see them coming up with many more combinations of three in the future. :)

You did a great job with the eye look. Gorgeous!

I love your featured looks. They are elegant, not over the top, great sense of color combinations and your blending is always perfect.
Take care my dear, Nicole x

@Nicole
Hey, thank you so much for your kind words, Nicole! As always, they are much appreciated. :D I think you know me by now - I'm not into theatrical and OTT stuff. I prefer practical looks. Once in a while, I test the waters but most times, I would stay within boundaries. I'm sure you would agree that it is always possible to create nice looks without going too far. :)

It looks like they have switched the Milky Eyes delivery system to the brush instead of the showerhead--I haven't bought one in a while since they seem to last forever. I was surprised that 209 had shimmer in it. It's subtle, but it is the only Ellis Faas eyeshadow I own (out of around 8 or so, not including Lights) that isn't matte.

I love the look you created.

@Zuzu's Petal
Thank you, Zuzu! True, they do last a long time! I don't know when exactly they changed the delivery system for Milky Eyes but it was already a brush in the E204 in the Autumn Set this year. I guess they realised there were too many problems with the clogged showerhead applicators. :)
