Adorned Nails: Nubar Reclaim

First, I have three things to say:

1. This is my first bottle of Nubar nail polish.
2. It's a heart-thumping green.
3. It's also a jaw-dropping holo.

Those are all noteworthy points but that's not quite why I'm making a big fuss over this. The main reason is that I received this from a very sweet reader of mine who goes by an equally sugar-filled name of Lolipop.

If you follow my writings, you will know that I sometimes surprise an unsuspecting reader of Witoxicity with a gift - an exact item that I feature in a blog post. In these surprise giveaways, the winners are always chosen amongst those readers who leave comments under the relevant posts. The items won so far have been nail polishes but who's to say that I won't include other types of makeup items in the future.

Back in April, Lolipop was the surprise winner of a bottle of Teeez Smooth, a gorgeous pink holo polish. She was so pleased that she decided to get me something in return. Well, that in itself was a real surprise to me as I never expected anything back. I appreciate my readers and all the support that they've given me and doing these little giveaways (announced and unannounced) is my way to show my thanks.

The thing is, Lolipop went through a lot of trouble getting this bottle of Nubar polish for me, chief of which was due to misinformation by the inept postal staff there. I won't go into the details but by golly, it makes this bottle of polish even more precious!

So, Lolipop, I've said it before and I will say it again: Thank you so much for your gift and for your thoughtfulness! This Adorned Nails post is specially for you.

I've got on here three coats of Reclaim (applied on top of GOSH Fix Base Coat). It applied well and as you will see, it's an extrovert holographic polish. I thought it was almost too eager to show its holo-ness even away from direct sunlight (but with good enough lighting, of course). Minus the holo, it looks like this, a jade-like dirty-ish green which reminds me of the crème KOH Meditate.

Nubar describes Reclaim as a medium holographic green. I believe it comes from their Going Green Collection.

I will now let the customary I'm-so-chuffed-about-my-holo-that-I-must show-you-my-nails-from-every-single-angle-to-prove-my-point sunlight photos speak for themselves. There is no need for further words.

*lol* Just today I swatched a glitter polish from OPI and prepared a post with several " I'm-so-chuffed-about-my-holo-that-I-must show-you-my-nails-from-every-single-angle-to-prove-my-point"-pictures ;) Very funny word :)

This color is so pretty . I love green holos although they seem very hard to come by . I also love the Nuubar bottles. They are so cute .

EEEEEEEEEH!!! Green holo!!! :D I think this is the first green holo I've seen that I like.

(By the way, if you ever want to franken a holo yourself, there is this stuff called 'Spectraflair' that they use in car coatings that gives you a holo effect :D.)

@Binara
Hello, Binara! Haha, I know, we all tend to do that with such polishes. They just have that obsessive effect on us. :P

@The Student's Guide To Nail Polishes
Yes, Lolipop is indeed very lovely. I'm glad you like her choice of polish. Awesome holo! :)

@Toyomi
I agree about the bottle. I really like the design too. :)

@Adis
Well!! I can see you really love this green holo! :D Thanks for the tip on Spectraflair. It makes perfect sense because after all, the nail polish originates from the car paint. You can also repair very minor scratches on your car with nail polish. :)

@Cali369
Thank you! :)

@Nicole
Yes, yes, three cheers for Lolipop! :D I absolutely love her choice.

@thenailaholic
I can totally see why it's one of your favourites. It's such a fab holo! :)

@Claire
Flakies on this holo? That would be beyond gorgeous!! :)

@sugar sugar
I'm glad you like it. Thanks! :)

@KTee
Thsnks, KTee. Another one to add to your Green list and this particular green holo is a must! You just can't say no to this. :D

Hello!

This is such a beautiful colour!
May I ask if it wears well? I have nfu #63 + 66 and they don't wear very well at all =( started chipping within the same hour I put it on.

@kimmyl182
Hi! Well, I did start to get a tiny bit of chipping on the second day, but then again, I didn't wear any top coat on this. :)

OMG this is absolutely AMAZING

Adis said...

Yep, I really like it :D! The only green holo's I've seen so far look too yellow and/or don't have enough holo for my taste :(. This one is more of a jade colour, which I like, and it's got enough holo going on for me :D!

Hmm, I shan't tell anyone else about this, lest they uproot my nailpolish collection for a fitting colour :x.

wow, I love the color. This would be something different for me :) it looks really good on you! Love your nails :)

@Paulina
Woh, the most beautiful polish you've ever seen in your life?!? This is major because I know you've seen many! :D Thank you so much for letting me know about the tag, Paulina. :)

@ChinaDoll
Yay, I'm pleased you love this! :)

@Amber
I have to agree and I have Lolipop to thank for this bottle of gorgeousness. :)

@Adis
Heh heh, it's best to keep mum about the DIY fix. Oh, btw, in 2008, a lady in US actually painted her whole car (looking like a quilt) with 250 bottles of nail polish. I salute her. I don't think I would have had that much patience and dedication to complete the job. :D

@Lizzy
Thank you, Lizzy! Well, to be honest, a polish this awesome would look lovely on just about anybody. :D

What?! *googles it*
Oh wow :o! Jill Bell made a pretty nice piece of work of that car. I wouldn't want to drive it, but I can't deny it looks pretty good. Yvonne Millner on the other hand... It looks... Rather... Quaint :x. Somewhat impressionist :x.

Witoxicity said...

@Adis
[googles] I didn't know about Ms Millner. I agree. Her piece of art is indeed quite impressionistic. Chaotic impressionism, I suppose. Ms Bell's 'quilt', on the other hand, is more organised. I'm very impressed! :)

That's so sweet! This was my first Nubar too. =) You have lovely nails! Holo = <3

Witoxicity said...

@Honey Bomb
I hope Lolipop reads this. She is indeed very sweet. :)

Heh heh, holos are a real treat for the eyes (and nails), aren't they? Oh, Reclaim was your first Nubar too? What a coincidence! :D

Anutka said...

Love the holo! So mesmerizing :)

oooh must find this.. ooh it looks good on you

Witoxicity said...

@Anutka
Holos tend to have that effect on us. :D

@Pretty
Thanks, Pretty. :)

Laughed so hard at I'm-so-chuffed-about-my-holo-that-I-must show-you-my-nails-from-every-single-angle-to-prove-my-point, I must admit I'm guilty of that too...

I must say I'm surprised you needed three coats, mine is a one-coater! Strange how the same polish still can be diffrent ( but if it looks the same, who cares? )

Witoxicity said...

@PolishSis
Hee hee! We, who love nail polishes and write about them, would do that at one point or another. Call it dedication or call it obsession, take your pick! :D

I think I must have done thin-ish coats and that's why I had to do more than two. But yeah, you still get the same awesome holo effect, so never mind. :)

wow very prety my dear!
I went to Maastricht this weekend. No teeez :( I went to Maaseik and Rotem...no teeez ...! Where do you buy it? I'm always looking for that jewelery holographic ..have a nice day ;)

@(So)Originail
Oh, how nice that you were in the Netherlands! I hope you had a great time. :D Well, it is unfortunate that Teeez products aren't available everywhere here. When I do find a retail point, the holos are sold out. Hmph! Anyway, I hope you're having a great weekend, my dear. :)
