Adorned Nails: Zoya Sloane

You probably would have noticed that I have a certain fascination for purple nail polishes, especially the dark ones, and I wouldn’t be surprised if purple has got a grip on many of you too.

Deep purple on its own looks regal but then, deep purple juxtaposed against silver is like having the king, the queen and the handsome prince over for dinner!

Image left is with flash photography.

Zoya Sloane is a magnificent deep purple, leaning slightly towards burgundy and with hints of shimmer. In the bottle, it's so striking that I've been having trouble tearing my eyes away from the polish. This is my first ever Zoya which I bought a few months ago. My friend, Gail of ooglemakeup, who also has this in her collection, had said a while back that I should feature this nail polish here, so here it is!

For stamping, I used the newly released Essence Nail Art Stampy Design Plate: 03 Be Creative. The design that I chose is the Chinese character in the top row. Translated, it means ‘friend’ and I think it’s very appropriate for this post. Gail was my first friend in blog world and my first ever reader (one never forgets such things!), so this is for Gail and for all the ladies I've met here ever since!

Sloane was quite a pleasure to polish but I did encounter the odd bubble or two. Shown here are two coats of Sloane. For the stamping, I used Silver Moon, a phased-out nail polish from Catrice.

And because deep purples are so difficult to capture on camera, I ended up having to take a gazillion photos in my attempt to outwit this chameleon Sloane. Here are just three more for your viewing pleasure, my friends.....

Umm, have I already mentioned how much I love deep purple nail polishes?

I love that; both the polish and the simple but beautiful adornment.

I must buy some Zoya; I visit a counter occasionally, but then get sensory overload at all the colours.

So sexy nails. I have this gorgeous one for a long while and haven't worn it yet. For some reason, I find it so beautiful that in my head, the occasion is never god enough to wear it! That doesn't make any sense of course.

i always love how perfect your polish application is!! you should post a video!

GORGEOUS! I have Casey which is similar but darker. I like that you can still see lots of purple here. I can't wait to start wearing polish again...esp spring colours!

This is a stunning, vampy shade. I love that it looks dark red and dark purple at the same time.

I always inadvertently buy purple polishes! I am just subconciously drawn to them.

I love this shade on you. Looking at it only makes me long for winter more. It's coming! This is a perfect shade to wear for a dark, dreary day! Love the stamping and the silver polish suits the purple! Again, good pictures! :) xx

@Grace London
Let's face it, I think we all get overwhelmed when standing in front of rows (and rows) of nail polish bottles! It happens to me every time! Sometimes, I get the feeling the sale assistants are watching me and thinking why the heck I'm standing there forever and inspecting practically every bottle! Oh, decisions, decisions!:D

Thank you, Manju. Thank goodness for stamping for those of us who can't draw! :D

Heh heh, that's so cute, what you said, but I do know what you mean. Always saving it for the perfect ocassion, so you keep postponing and wondering if then THIS is the right ocassion.

Like I said, I've had Sloane a few months already but this is actually the first time I'm wearing it on my nails! Now I say it's scandalous that I've waited this long! :)

Thank you so much for your kind words! I have all those fantastic nail blog/Youtube gurus to thank really. The trick is in the clean-up after the polishing! :)

Thank you! Ooh, an even darker one than this?! I must check Casey out then! :D And yes, it's time again for cheerful spring nail colours! :)

Oh, I see we share the same weakness for purples! Heh heh! With this Sloane, sometimes I'm very sure that it's purple and then I look again, it looks burgundy. How very curious! :)

And winter is just round the corner for you! I bought this polish when winter started, so it's quite ironic that I should only wear this now at the beginning of spring! Ha ha!

Thank you, Danielle, for your sweet and encouraging words. I appreciate them very much. :)

Thank you very much! :)

Thank you so much, Arie! And yes, the designs on this plate are indeed very lovable. Aaah, another purple fan! I always knew there were more of us. :D

Yes, Sloane is a very attractive shade. :)

Hey hun, I've a similar colour in my polish collection and I absolutely adore the shade! I agree, Purple with hint of silver is an amazing combo.

p.s: your nail polish application skills are spot, I love the staming with silver on it! xoxo

Nice mani :p I also have my fair share of purple nail polishes, for it's my favourite colour !

Uhh looks really nice ;D I have to try it!

Oh that's so sweet!!! I wish I could have that lovely friend symbol on my nails too! Sloane looks fabulous on you, on me it made me look very witchy unfortunately - my nails can only pull of boring pastel shades! I loved your review, hahah the regal comparisons. Purple is a royal colour afterall as it was the most expensive dye. Purple never loses its appeal. I must try and find out more about nail art, it makes nails look so expensive! LOVE! Xxxx
Your friend,
Gail xx

Purple polish looks fab on you! I love the cool addition of the Chinese word. ;)

Witoxicity said...

Thank you. I'm sure glad you like that little character there. :)

Thanks! :)

Yeah, the colour looks different in different lighting and that includes looking brown too, sometimes! :)

@The Beautifier
Thank you for your very kind words, Sonali! Oh, I absolutely love purple and silver combos. This combination has, I guess you could call it, oomph! :D

Thanks! Yay to purple nail polishes, I say! :D

@Emilie Delance
Thank you. Do give this a try! :)

I'm so pleased that you like this! Ha ha, Sloane looking witchy on you?! I wouldn't exactly see that as something negative. Perhaps we should call it 'vampy cool' though. :D There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, Gail.

Yes, I think you should give nail art a go. It's fun and addictive. You've been forewarned! :)

Purple looks so elegant in your hands girl. ^_^. You have very nice hands by the way. The Chinese character stamping makes it even more beautiful. ^_^

Thanks so much, Ems. It's really nice to know that you like this mani. :)

Thank you, Elizabeth. I'm very happy that you find this manicure pleasing. It is, after all, for all of you. :)

I didn't know that Essence released a Stampy Design Plate, I'm so glad that I read about it on your blog! I'm definitely going to buy that one, I hope I can find it in the store (they don't always have everything). At first I feared that they would stick to the two sets, so I'm really glad that they added a plate :)

Sheefa F said...

absolutely gorgeous and mysterious! You have a lovely choice in nail paints :) I love that stamp design too. I never manage to get it on my nail though :(

Witoxicity said...

@Beauty Vibes
Unfortunately, I haven't seen this in the stores here yet. A friend got this for me in Germany.

@Get Gawjus!
Thanks so much! The stamping does take some practice though, so don't give up. :)
